Hello! I’m Lucy (she/her), a PhD student in Linguistics at New York University. My work focuses on syntax’s interfaces with semantics and morphology. I’m interested in event and argument structure, particularly case, valency, and aspect. I’m also fascinated by spatial language and prepositions.

I earned my Master's Degree from the University of Toronto, supervised by Professor Susana Béjar. I researched resultative secondary predication in the form of change-of-colour constructions in  Labrador Inuttitut and Inuktitut more broadly, as part of the UofT Inuttitut research group. I am also doing ongoing work with Professor Michelle Troberg on the expression of path in Scottish Gaelic directed motion events.

I can be reached at lucy (dot) meanwell (at) nyu (dot) edu

Before the pandemic I did theatre in the Toronto area, and graduated from George Brown Theatre School in 2017. I also (still) write poetry, and published a collection, The Last Green Thing, in 2019.

My name is pronounced /ˈlu.si ˈmin.wɛɫ/.

Thanks for stopping by!
